Xk3y firmware update 1.26

October 7th, 2012

Hi All

Just a quick note that if you have upgraded to one of the newer dashboards – i.e. 15574 then you may experience an error message on the xk3y device reading ‘ap25′ error. Simply download the xk3y firmware 1.26 download – extract the 3 files from the zip file (rootfs, uimage & xkeyconfig) place them in the ROOT of your external HD turn on your xbox and the xk3y will update then ask you to restart – do this and then once you have tested it works please delete the xk3y firmware files from the ROOT of your ext HD as everytime you power on your xbox it will cause a delay in your ext HD being ‘available’ to play your iso’s as the xk3y device will be checking the update files everytime to check if they are the same or newer.

Xbox 360 Dash Update 2.0.15574.0

August 3rd, 2012

Another Xbox Live update has been rolled out (nothing major) going from the last update of 2.0.15572.0 to 15574.0

Anybody who is already on 14719 or above will not have their drive flashed back to stock. However, anybody updating from less than 13146 on BenQ, Samsung and phat Lite-On, or < 13599 on Slim Lite-On 9504]) will most likely have their drive reverted to stock firmware.

As always – stay safe!

LT+ v3.0 – how does this affect you?

August 3rd, 2012

LT+ v3.0

This version adds support for topology data in place of AP2.5 replay data for all XGD3 and AP2.5-active XGD2 backups. *NOTE:For drives that support AP2.5, all backups containing AP2.5 replay data will need to be patched or re-dumped and re-burned for compatibility with v3.0.

iXtreme LT+ v3.0 for BenQ retains support for the use of truncated backups, although it it strongly recommended to use full XGD3 burns made with a compatible Lite-On iHAS drive flashed with the iXtreme Burner MAX fw.

In LT+ v3.0, backups remain the same layout, but require new “AP2.5 topology data” in place of the older “AP2.5 replay sector” that was used in LT+ v2.x and older. Burned backups made for v2.x will not work on v3.0, and vice-versa. In the case of v3.0, the firmware would be looking for nonexistent topology data on a backup burned for v2.x. For v2.x, the firmware would be looking for nonexistent AP25 replay data on a backup burned for v3.0. Either way will not work, and will flag your 360 by failing AP2.5 challenges outright.

In short what does this mean to you? See below for relevant drive details:

Lite-On:
Upgrading to LT+ 3.0 will mean….all AP2.5 backups will need to be patched or re-dumped and re-burned to be compatibility with LT+ v3.0. it retains support for the use of truncated backups, although it it strongly recommended to use full XGD3 burns made with a compatible Lite-On iHAS drive (installed inside your pc) flashed with the iXtreme Burner MAX fw. Latest Firmware Available: LT+ v3.0

Ben-Q: Upgrading to LT+ 3.0 will mean…it retains support for the use of truncated backups, although it it strongly recommended to use full XGD3 burns made with a compatible Lite-On iHAS drive (installed inside your pc) flashed with the iXtreme Burner MAX fw. Latest Firmware Available: LT+ v3.0

Hitachi:
Upgrading to LT+ 3.0 is not possible. This will mean anybody with:

-Hitachi 32, 36, 40, 46, 47, 58, and 59 (GDR-3120L) requires LT+ 2.0 (Support for XGD3 backups, including LT-MAX feature – supports full XGD3 ISOs burned on regular DVD+R DL media with iXtreme Burner MAX.  ** Hitachi v2.0 does NOT support truncated XGD3 nor Xbox 1 backups (Xbox 1 originals are fine). **  Latest Firmware Available: LT+ v2.0

-Hitachi  78 – LT+ 3.0 IN PROGRESS - This version will adds support for topology data in place of AP2.5 replay data for all XGD3 and AP2.5-active XGD2 backups. **NOTE:For drives that support AP2.5, all backups containing AP2.5 replay data will need to be patched or re-dumped and re-burned for compatibility with v3.0. ** iXtreme LT+ v3.0 for Hitachi 78/79 does not support the use of truncated backups, and requires full XGD3 burns made with a compatible Lite-On iHAS drive flashed with the iXtreme Burner MAX fw. Latest Firmware Available: LT+ v2.0

 - Hitachi 79  requires LT+ v2.0b. This version contains bugfix for issues with 8.7GB XGD3 backups that were present in the original LT + 2.0 release for Hitachi 79. ** Hitachi v2.0+ does not support truncated XGD3 nor Xbox 1 backups (Xbox 1 originals are fine). ** Latest Firmware Available: LT+ v2.0b

Samsung / Toshiba: Upgrading to LT+ 3.0 is not possible/needed. Any ISOs made for v3.0 that include topology data will work fine on Samsung and old Hitachis. In v3.0, the ISO layout hasn’t changed, except that there will instead be new topology data in place of where the old AP2.5 replay sector used to be, which Samsung & old Hitachis ignore anyway. Latest Firmware Available: LT+ v2.01
Backups burned for v2.x will not work on v3.0 (except on non ap2.5 capable drives: Hitachi 32, 36, 40, 46, 47, 58, and 59 (GDR-3120L) & Samsung / Toshiba) and vice-versa due to the need for different topology data. You should always be checking your backups using ABGX (always check it is the latest version) this will then add / change the topology data as / when needed (dependant upon settings of course) – guide here (LINK COMING SOON)

Xbox 360 Dash Update 2.0.15572.0

June 14th, 2012

A new Xbox 360 Dash Update has been released – SystemUpdate version 2.0.15572.0 (Summer 2012 Production Flash). There are no immediate official details from MS regarding it yet, but an announcement from Major Nelson revealed:

2:01AM 13 Jun 12 “If you got an Xbox 360 System Update: Spring update rolling out to a few this week — everyone else next week.”

2:01AM 13 Jun 12 “The system update contains behind the scenes improvements & prep for future enhancements.”

The update is being offered in batches so do not worry if you haven’t yet received a prompt to update. Users with flashed 360′s who have accepted the update are seemingly fine and drives remain unchanged. It is considered safe however, as always update at your own risk.
